ABOUT

written by Mary Parkes

The Art Shed has always been described by our family as an endless bounty of creative supplies. It is true that whatever mischief was called for, The Art Shed would surely supply the goods. Whether I had an art assignment due or a simple wish to express myself in that moment; there was always the space and equipment available for me to let my creativity flourish.

In recent years I have had the pleasure of teaching youth art in a variety of disciplines including drawing and painting, pottery and other forms of sculpture. My classes and workshops have been run all over town playing guest in different venues, galleries and studios- but for own creative outlet The Art Shed had always been the obvious choice. I realized that my students and their families would benefit from a permanent location such as this, and that I would be a fool not to invite them into the very space my family and I have been happily creating in for years.

So welcome! We are grateful to have this space available for us to share. To celebrate, The Art Shed is hosting a Welcome Party on January 9th 2015. If you’re an existing student or wishing to enquire about our program, you’re invited!

Being creative is a part of my daily life. For the past 6 years I have been an active member of Fibres and Fabrics Artist group where I have learnt many skills and grown as an artist. Now it is time to pass on and share those skills. I believe art is a great healer and teacher. So join me on a wonderful journey of fun and self discovery through art.
